GPT, the good and bad

First I like to say welcome to my blog and please feel free to comment and share your knowledge /experience with GPT sites……….

I felt that it is very important to discuss the good and the bad site of GPT so therefor I started this blog, to let others know about my experiences I had and hopefuly will help/warn some newbies and help them avoid falling into the trap of scammers and fraudsters…. I been doing GPT now for 6+ years, lost money and made some, learned the hard way many times and am now trying to do my best to avoid those bad ones by gathering all the info I can before I join any site, or forum for that matter…..

If you ever belonged/belong to any GPT site to make a little extra money you will know to that there are many scammers and fraudsters out there to get your money or better put, to keep the money you earned plus money you may have put in to it…. Many members jump right in and upgrade once the site opened because the PO makes the deal to inticing to pass it up….same with advertising, the keep the price very low,at first, run a referral contest (which many times you don’t see the prize because by then the PO ran off and closed the site) and so on…

Before joining a site, you should check out the advertising prices for sustainability, the forum if one is available , check and see if others been paid, ask around if you can and see what others experience has been with a site……. In my opinion, if a site does NOT have a forum, that alone makes me a bit suspicious and I usually skip that one all together unless I know it has been around for some years and I know of some members who belong there ….

Do I mistrust all? NO,there are many good sites and honest PO’s out there, you just have be selective of those you join and be as knowledgeable about those as much as you can….

For me it all comes down to honesty. If a PO is not revealing who they are and are hiding behind a private whois, I would not trust that site. I prefer PO’s to be upfront and at least not hide from everyone.

Exactly, honesty is they key, and if someone feels the need to hide behind whatever, it sure makes them look guilty as sin…….

Should make one think twice before joining any site under those circumstances , as a matter of fact, I would NOT join it at all………

And newbies need to be made aware of things like that and what to look out for and where they can check etc…..

I can see both sides of the issue about the WhoIs privacy (GPT sites)

On one hand, privacy can be kept from the public, but, if the PO is honest, will reveal who (s)he is once a person joins the site.

Whereas, one who is out to scam will not reveal who they are even AFTER one joins a site.

What I usually do before joining those that don’t reveal who they are is use the contact form to write an inquiry.

If they answer in person, fine. If they answer under the “business” name, then I become a bit skeptic.

I may still join if I am satisfied with the response to my inquiry, but…….

Thank you Donna, yes, once he/she reveals ‘their’ identity to a possible member before they join, that would be fine, but, I do NOT want to have to join the site in order to find out who the PO actually is…..

To use the contact page before joining is a pretty good Idea and should be used if there is no other way to find out the identity of a site owner…..

Another way to check out who the owner of a site may be, one may use ‘whois’ which tells you who is behind that domain, even tho, many times the owners are listed as private, I myself, still check it out before joining any site, on top of checking forums etc….

            http://www.whois.com

simply type in the sites name and the .com or .net etc…..
